Last night I had one of the most memorable and vivid dreams I've had in a long time. The funny thing is, people that I haven't seen or spoken to in years made appearances in my dream. Yet, they all looked and acted exactly as I remember.
I was walking in some strange location. I stopped to make small talk with my senior prom date and proceeded to call him Sexy Butt even though I don't remember what his butt looked like. He looked really hot until he smiled. His teeth were all yellow and crooked. I got scared and kept walking. I passed the guy I lost my virginity to and said a brief hello. He smiled and walked on by with a cigarette hanging out of his mouth, true to form, exactly as I remember.
I made my way into the video store I used to work at. They had renovated and renamed the place. I didn't recognize anyone there. They had set up a huge bulletin board in the middle of the store with pictures posted all over it. I walked over and started perusing the collage of photographs. One caught my eye. I immediately recognized the person and said his name aloud (keep in mind that I have not seen, talked to, or even thought about this person since I graduated high school). I realized I was late in meeting my friend at the beach, so I left.
I found my way to the beach and met up with my old college roommate's ex-boyfriend (again, who I haven't seen or spoken to since sophomore year of college). We hugged and sat on the beach talking for a long time. We decided to swim out to this tiki hut perched on stilts about 100 yards offshore. We climbed up the ladder and sprawled out on the warm, wooden floor of the hut. We lay there, arms touching, listening to the waves splash against the large pilings beneath us. I drifted into a limbo between consciousness and sleep. I felt something warm and wet press against my lips. I opened my eyes to find his body pressed on top of mine, kissing me.
And then I woke up.
